Steven plays in Croke Park

11th Sep 2017

Sunday 3rd September 2017 is a date that our former P7 pupil, Steven will never forget. This of course was the date of the 2017 Mens' All Ireland Senior Hurling Final played in Croke Park in Dublin in front of an enthusiastic crowd of 82,000 people. The final was between Waterford and Galway. Steven, who was crowned "Hurler of the year" at the recent P7 pupil awards at the end of June, was chosen to represent St Patrick's PS Armagh in a special hurling display held at half time of the Minor Hurling final. Steven could be seen wearing his blue and white GAA Go Games Jersey in full view of millions of viewers as the match was transmitted to every corner of the world.

Just before the Senior match Steven lined out with both the Waterford and Galway players and shook hands with no other than Mr Michael D Higgins, President of Ireland, who attended the game. The attached photos show Steven lined out with the two Senior teams with The President walking off the pitch as well as a close up of himself shaking hands with the President ( Steven is wearing the red a black striped Jersey.) The other photos show Steven in action during the GO Games Hurling display game. A massive congratulations to Steven and all the Mc Donnell family. A really proud day for his own family and the St Patrick's family too. Steven has recently transferred to St Patrick's Grammar School where we hope he will continue to flourish.
