St Patrick's Primary School, Armagh

History

St Patrick’s Primary School is situated on the Loughgall Road on the north side of Armagh. It is on the edge of the city surrounded by a number of residential estates. It is in a pleasant setting as there is considerable green space both within the school grounds and in the surrounding area. In the immediate vicinity of the school is Abbey Park.

The school opened in September 1969 to replace what was known in Armagh as “Banbrook School”

The staff of five teachers and 200 pupils moved into a new building on a much larger site with its own playing field.

In 1979 the demand for places triggered an extension to the original building and a further extension was then added in 1998.

These areas, with their own easily accessible entrance, provide up-to-date facilities in a welcoming environment.
