French Club
Fun Français
Learning French the fun way for 4 to 11 year olds.
French classes have been running as a popular after school activity in St. Patrick's for many years, every Tuesday from 2.00-3.00pm (P1-P3)and 3.00 - 4.00pm (P4-P7).
The language is taught informally in a structured manner using fun methods. The aim is to encourgage children to learn the new language the same way they learned their mother tongue, by verbal and physical participation. A wide selection of games (both indoor and outdoor), songs, role-play and drama are used to promote the development of good pronunciation and to learn a wide range of vocabulary and phrases.
Educational DVDs and CDs are also used for the children to hear and see authentic speakers and to become aware of the cultural differences and similarities.
Team building activities are a strong feature of our club with the use of board games, whiteboard games and quizzes.
Books are not required, as children are given activity sheets regularly to reinforce subjects covered during class. It is recommended that children keep a folder at home for these sheets.
French reward stickers are awarded at the end of every class.
Regular feedback from former pupils has shown, that the majority of those who attend regularly, achieve excellent grades in French at secondary level.
The cost of the class is £3.50 per week for one child, £6.00 for two and £7.00 for three children from the same family. There are also reductions for paying monthly in advance.
