P7 classes seek work at The Argory.

Pupils from Mr O’Hare’s, Mrs Perry’s and Mrs Bennett’s P7 classes took a trip to The Argory to take part in a very special “Hiring Day.” The pupils got all dressed up in Victorian day clothing and were instantly transported back in time to the year 1847. As Ulster was suffering from a famine in 1847 the opportunity to get a job in the Argory household was one not to be missed.The following vacancies were available .....Lady’s maid, young lady’s maid, gentleman’s valet and garden hand. During our visit the pupils were shown around the great house and gardens by existing staff of the house. All duties of each job were explained in detail and in the afternoon application forms were filled in using nib pens and ink. Five lucky children were chosen to begin work at 6am next Monday morning. We wish them good luck in their jobs.
