P7 Visit to Armagh County Museum

12th Nov 2025
Our Primary 7 pupils have been studying The Victorians for their World Around Us topic this term. One part of this has been looking at some of the most famous inventions from the Victorian Era, so we took the opportunity to visit Armagh County Museum to get their hands on some examples and learn a lot more about them.

Sarah and her team at the museum put on an extremely fun, informative and interesting morning for our boys and girls, sharing lots of examples of Victorian inventions and facts about them. We learned all about their history and how many are still used in the modern day, just in a developed form.

The development of Alexander Graham Bell’s telephone was a hot topic of conversation. When you start trying to explain to children that you used to have to press the No.7 four times on a mobile phone just to type the letter S, you get a quick shock about how quickly times are moving on! Wait until they hear it was, “44-33-555-555-666,” to type the word, “Hello.” It won’t be long before the 1990s and 2000s are being studied during history lessons in school!

Thank you to Sarah and all of her team at Armagh County Museum.

Have a look at some snaps from our fantastic visit!
