Remembering Jamie McGee
7th Jul 2025
Amidst all the celebrations of achievements and retirements last week, a more poignant moment was marked by Mr McKinley, Father Barry and the McGee family.
With our Primary 7 pupil Holly’s time in St. Patrick’s coming to an end, this meant the last child of Gerry and Jill McGee had completed their journey with us.
Many years ago, a tree was planted in memory of Holly’s brother, Jamie, who tragically passed as a pupil of ours in 2008. This towering, beautiful tree and surrounding garden was dedicated to Jamie as a reminder of the beautiful boy he was and the towering man he would no doubt have become. Since then, his siblings Ben, Ryan and Holly have carried his name in their hearts and have done both Jamie and their parents proud.
A new plaque was placed at the foot of the tree and blessed by Father Barry, ensuring that although the McGee family’s attendance at our school was now over, the spiritual bond established with them, and Jamie’s name, will live on forever.
