Smalls Family Return Generosity with Ice Cream For All!
19th May 2026
The phrase "Kindness Boomerang" exists to describe the phenomenon of when kindness that you put out into the world is returned to you. This morning, a Kindness Boomerang arrived for every pupil in St. Patrick's, courtesy of our pupils Oliver and Scarlett, and their parents.
You may recall that in January of this year, Oliver and Scarlett's family home and personal belongings fell victim to a terrible fire accident. We put out a request to all of our families to make a donation to an appeal towards helping the family recover from such a devastating event, and the response was incredible.
Your generosity, as it always is, was astounding, and we were able to offer some significant support to the family. This support was extremely gratefully received and enormously appreciated by the family.
They told us back in January that in the Summer term, they would like to do something for our pupils to acknowledge their help and thank them, and that moment arrived today!
The kindness from our boys and girls was returned by Oliver and Scarlett's family, who brought Harry's Ices to school to provide a free ice-cream for every single pupil and staff member in St. Patrick's!
This was a truly beautiful gesture from a family who were knocked off their feet just a few months ago. For them to be thinking of others so soon shows the resilience they have, their gratitude and appreciation, and their own kindness. From the bottom of our hearts, we say thank you to them for this wonderful gift to our pupils, and we reiterate both the family's and our school's thanks to our wider school community for rallying around two of our own in their hour of need.
The St. Patrick’s family spirit really shone brightly today.
