St. Brigid’s Day in Aonach Mhacha
1st Feb 2025
Lá Fhéile Bride Shona Daoibh! Today, 1st February, marks the feast day of Saint Brigid.
While many of our pupils were told the story of Brigid and given the opportunity to make their own replica of her cross in school, one of our lucky classes had the privilege of being invited to Cultúrlann Aonach Mhacha to learn a little more about her, and work with the wonderful ladies of The Great Oaks Derrynoose.
Mr Kelly’s P7 class loved their morning in Aonach Mhacha with our brilliant host, Eoin Kelly, and the fabulous Lily, Marion, Kathleen and Noleen of The Great Oaks Derrynoose. Their instructions, guidance, and as many will know most important of all when making a cross of St. Brigid, patience, really helped our boys and girls to enjoy themselves and create their own cross.
A super morning in a building the city of Armagh is so lucky to have.
Also attached are photos of Mr O’Hare’s P7 class who were very creative in making their crosses in school, using art straws! Some fantastic work all round.
